Man-made global warming is dead (surprise, surprise).

Indeed now we shall find out what cold is; no matter how much carbon dioxide in atmosphere increases. And carbon dioxide will increase, if eco-history is any indication. But who cares about eco-history? It’s harder to make a profit from eco-history. Our government is not interested in eco-history. Carbon dioxide is a much richer fraud. Now, as punishment, we enter the Al Gore Minimum; God help us; and God help our children.

Nothing has been done to improve cold-weather farming! Nothing.

Without Energy Life Is Brutal And Short

This from a guy who taught high school in (tropical) East Africa: Without Energy Life Is Brutal And Short.

He also knows a great deal about the economic interaction between big government and science, which is a thousandfold more lucrative than that between “big-oil” and science. He is John R. Christy, Lead Author of the 2001 IPCC report. His opinion on IPCC reports, and on much-lauded scientific consensus, is interesting, timely, and highly relevant. The only more important video I can think of is “The Great Global Warming Swindle.” The question-and-answer section at the end is illuminating; Christy is the one with the facts. The questioners have only the worn-out illusory accusations of global warming pseudoscience.

Ultralong Solar Cycle 23

Must-read article by Joe D’Aleo summarizes perfectly the real factors in climate; “carbon dioxide” is not found in this text.

“. . . we will find proof that solar changes drive the ocean cycles which drive the land temperatures.”

Evidence is overwhelming. There was a correlation first, but no mechanism. Now the mechanism is identified and gaining definition. Clearly, it is a political barrier now between humans and climate understanding; not a scientific barrier.

Planting Delayed; Globe Too Hot

As long as “Too Hot” means too much ice and cold, as it does at NOAA.

I would’ve thought the purpose of NOAA should be to alert us to climate risks or dangers; apparently widespread late planting is not among NOAA’s concerns.

Search “Delayed planting 2008″ for a revealing litany of reported planting delays.

Iowa
India
Idaho
Illinois
Indiana
(and for diversity)
Nebraska
Vietnam
Wisconsin

The typical article follows. But we are likely to get another batch of planting delay articles every day now. Maybe we can pay a subsidy for delay of planting the subsidized crop.

Submit your own crop delay search terms; but I am off to get ammo for the explanation of why ethanol from corn uses more energy than it can deliver (ethanol from sugar cane and switchgrass actually add to energy supplies).

Planting Season Delayed

April 23, 2008- Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Blackfoot – Idaho

KIDK Television

Although cold, long winters aren’t anything new here in Idaho, over the last few years they’ve been pretty mild.
But this year, there seems to be no end.
And for many local farmers in the area, this is throwing them a little off schedule.

Usually more snow means more moisture, farmers have no complaints there.
But longer winters does delay the planting season.
I spoke with couple farmers and they all say they’re close to two weeks behind.

James Hoff, farmer:”We’ve had plenty of moisture this season.”

That’s always a good thing.
That means farmers have a prosperous growing season ahead.
But first they need to get started.

Hoff: “From the last five years we’re ten to fourteen days later than we would have been normally.”

And if you go west or north of Idaho Falls, up toward Rexburg those farmers are even more behind.

Hoff: “Those guys still have snow on the ground and the fields are very wet.”

A farmer in Osgood tells me last year, he started planting grain, wheat, and barley in the beginning of March.
This year he’s a good two to three weeks late.
And Idaho’s stare vegetable the spud, is behind schedule too.

More Lies, from the Deniers of History

Emulating the successes of climate fabricator Al Gore, IPCC has proven itself a quick study. Like a surface station on a blacktop parking lot, or the roof of a building, or within a few feet of a building, the output from IPCC bears not the slightest resemblence to the actual facts. But all we can do is keep paying the bill for garbage information; the same bogus information that will be used to extort a heavy, economically catastrophic tribute to the imaginations of climate charlatans. The famine will be a disaster.

The Chill Is On

Yes; the debate is beginning to favor the skeptics.  The beginning was the Holocene Optimum; or it was the Little Ice Age; or it was Ice Ball Earth.  Or it was the simple, undeniable record of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, often far exceeding that of today.   History, and paleoclimatology, is going to repeat.  The burden of proof should be on those wishing to extract the wealth; the deniers of history.

Did someone say “it’s over?”

The Chill Is On

Climate Change: Global warming? Don’t worry about it. It’s over. No longer does Al Gore have to fly around the world in private jets emitting greenhouse gases to save the world from — greenhouse gases.

Read More: Global Warming

The United Nations World Meteorological Organization is reporting that global temperatures have not risen since 1998. That would be the same temperatures that models from the U.N.’s Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change said would be scorching the earth into an unlivable wasteland — except for those coastal areas flooded by seas gorged with water from melting ice sheets.

Of course the IPCC spins the news.

“You should look at trends over a pretty long period,” said WMO Secretary-General Michel Jarraud, “and the trend of temperature globally is still very much indicative of warming.”

His explanation for the cool spell is the effect of the Pacific Ocean’s La Nina current, “part of what we call ‘variability.’ “

If that’s the case, then why can’t the Pacific’s El Nino current, which played a large part in the warm reading for 1998, simply been seen as a “variability” and not part of a greater warming trend? Because it doesn’t fit the agenda?

Were the IPCC not dedicated to spreading fear, it would admit its climate models, on which much of the global warming madness is based, are flawed. While pandering politicians, media sycophants and Hollywood dupes desperately seeking significance have lectured us about our carbon monoxide emissions, real temperature changes measured over the past 30 years have not matched well with increases predicted by the IPCC’s models.

This is not some gas-guzzler’s fantasy but the finding of a credible study published last year in the International Journal of Climatology. Looking at the data, four researchers concluded “the weight of the current evidence . . . supports the conclusion” there is no agreement between the models and the observation temperatures.

That means that projections of future warming are too high, that the entire global warming assumption is suspect, and that Gore should find something more productive to do with his time.

It also proves that Howard Hayden, physics professor emeritus at the University of Connecticut, was correct in describing the machinery of the climate model-hysteria industrial complex as one that takes “garbage in” and spits “gospel out.”

The global warming debate is not over. Indeed, the debate is beginning to favor the skeptics.

Whither Carbon Dioxide

Carbon dioxide content in Earth’s atmosphere has increased monotonically and continuously since 1998.  Why then have not global temperatures increased, in the same time period?  As mysteriously as carbon dioxide has disappeared from the causes of climate change, it has also disappeared from this linked article.  You check; I cannot find “carbon dioxide” in it.

Global temperatures ‘to decrease’

…This would mean that temperatures have not risen globally since 1998 when El Nino warmed the world….

So; suddenly it was El Nino which warmed the world.  And carbon dioxide is nowhere to be found.  Since carbon dioxide evolution from the ocean, as it is warmed by the Sun, exceeds human production, there is really plenty of it.  Carbon dioxide just doesn’t have much to do with global warming, does it?

The Chilling Stars (redux)

Read ASAP “The Chilling Stars: The New Theory of Climate Change” by Prof. Henrik Svensmark and Nigel Calder

Chilling Stars

Circa 1950, scientists confirmed that our galaxy, the Milky Way, is a spiral galaxy. Our Sun, a small star, is not fixed in an arm of the spiral, but orbits outside the galaxy’s center, moving from arm to arm, over hundreds of millions of years. The galactic environment of our system actually changes pronouncedly, from age to age. Inside a dense galactic arm, populated with large, short lived stars, there are many star births, and catastrophic star deaths. Our solar system passes through dense arms periodically, and also through the much less dense space between the arms.

Large stars typically “die” in a massive explosion called a super nova. Such stellar explosions result in highly energetic subatomic particles called “cosmic rays.” Cosmic rays are much more frequently encountered, in the dense arms of the galaxy, and of course, near super novae. Two cosmic rays on average zip through your head every second, unobserved by you. If you are reading this at jet cruising altitude, the number is higher. At present, we are located in a minor or spur arm, called Orion.  Only within the last 15 years have scientists discovered that these energetic particles, creating cascades of free electrons in the atmosphere, contribute effectively to low cloud formation.

Only within the last 15 years have scientists discovered HOW clouds form! Astounding that it took so long.  (What were they working on?  Carbon Credit sales, instead)

We know for sure that our Sun itself effectively regulates the flow of cosmic rays reaching the Earth, through the Sun’s magnetosphere, which extends far beyond the planetary orbits. When the Sun is magnetically active (sunspot maxima) cosmic rays are more often deflected from reaching Earth. There is a well known 11 year sunspot cycle, highly correlated with the temperature of Earth’s atmosphere. There are more cycles, clearly correlating Earth’s temperature and solar activity. At a sunspot minima, more cosmic rays interact with our atmosphere, resulting in more formation of low clouds, over vast areas of the Earth. The upper aspect of low clouds is highly reflective, like the ice of Antarctica. Low clouds reflect most of the Sun’s energy which otherwise would be absorbed by the ocean or the land mass at the surface.  Sunspot activity can also slow dramatically for long periods. A very recent such period, prior to 1725, is called the Maunder Sunspot Minimum. It is also called the “Little Ice Age.” They are intimately related. With the Sun’s magnetic activity at a prolonged null, more cosmic rays interacted with Earth’s atmosphere creating more low clouds, and Earth’s atmosphere was cooled, fast. When the Sun became magnetically active again, low cloud formation slowed, and the atmosphere warmed.

Carbon dioxide comes mostly from the ocean, to a large extent generated by sea life. When the ocean warms, carbon dioxide normally dissolved in sea water is forced into the atmosphere. The temperature of the ocean is slow to change, because it is so massive, and also because water takes more energy to heat than does the same mass of atmosphere. Hundreds of years after a major reversal in solar activity, ocean temperature follows. So does carbon dioxide. Human activity generates a tiny fraction of the carbon dioxide which the ocean periodically takes up, or gives off, depending on its temperature. The carbon dioxide content of our atmosphere is a result of ocean temperature, much more than a cause.

If you want a clear explanation of all this and much more, read “The Chilling Stars” by Prof. Henrik Svensmark and Nigel Calder, or watch “The Great Global Warming Swindle” at http://www.rightalk.com . There is still much more to learn; climatology is practically a reborn science, as a result of the recent research of Svensmark and others!

Wiley Greenhouse Fiend Dumps on Australia’s Summer

Viscious Global Warming attacks Australia with snow!  But summer still has more than three weeks to run.  Carbon dioxide is indeed a wiley greenhouse scourge, which can whimsically freeze both hemispheres at once!  Or maybe it is  dumb scientists, and Al Gore, who have made carbon dioxide appear intelligent.

Global Warming has moved South

THE final day of summer in the Snowy Mountains has taken on a wintry chill after snow fell last night at the ski resorts of Perisher Blue and Thredbo.

A light dusting of snow blanketed the NSW ski resorts overnight as temperatures dropped to a low of minus 3.8 degrees Celcius at Perisher and minus 3 degrees at Thredbo.

Intermittent light snow flurries continued to fall into the morning on Mount Perisher.

Weather forecasters are already predicting a bumper snow season for 2008, according to resort management. Temperatures are expected to remain low with persistent precipitation throughout winter.

“We have barely had a summer this year,” said Gary Grant, Perisher Blue’s general manager of marketing. “It’s felt as though it’s remained cold since the end of the 2007 season, apart from a few warm days, there air has always had a nip in it.”

Either Cycle 24 Starts Up, or Earth Cools Down (Bigtime).

The solar weather report  today is not good; if you like to eat.  There is no solar weather, to speak of.  If solar cycle 24 does not start soon, Earth could quickly sink into another Ice Age – and actually we are about due for one.

Unfortunately, carbon dioxide abatement will have exactly the same impact on the coming and perhaps imminent Ice Age; as human-generated carbon dioxide had on the interglacial warming!  Namely: zero, nada, none. (Except that high carbon dioxide levels may slightly enhance failing crops as the Earth freezes).

The Coming of a New Ice Age

 BY GERALD E. MARSH
CHICAGO — Contrary to the conventional wisdom of the day, the real danger facing humanity is not global warming, but more likely the coming of a new Ice Age.  What we live in now is known as an interglacial, a relatively brief period between long ice ages.  Unfortunately for us, most interglacial periods last only about ten thousand years, and that is how long it has been since the last Ice Age ended.   How much longer do we have before the ice begins to spread across the Earth’s surface?  Less than a hundred years or several hundred?  We simply don’t know.
